Setting up a team

Posted on March 29, 2012 , by junowebdesign

The summer vacation is on its way, how will you spend your time? If you attend a high school or college and they don't offer a wrestling team of have an in house team, you could set up your own wrestling team, but how do you go about doing such a thing?

Firstly you need people. At High School you may be surprised at how many people take sports or would be interested in joining a team. Put up some posters around the sports area of the school, seeing if people are interested. You could arrange a date to meet everyone or you could create a social media page, such as face book, and encourage people interested in creating a wrestling team, to join that instead. That way any news or events can be posted online.

You should take a while to do that, in the mean time you need to find a coach. You could contact other wrestling teams in the area and see if there are any coaches who would be available to run training once or twice a week. The other option is to see if there are any older sports people like older brothers or dads, who would like to run a wrestling club.

If the club goes well and you have a lot of people interested to the point that training is busy and there is some real talent showing, you could contact local businesses to see if you can gain a sponsor for your team. This will advertise that company and with the sponsor money, you can purchase kit for your team.

Points to remember when creating a team, there needs to be a head person when it comes to organizing, that could me you or the coach.

Make sure attendees realize what they are training for and that they are all wearing the right kind of sports equipment.

Last of all, make sure you have fun!
