21st November? We're off to Arizona for the All-Star Classic

Posted on October 7, 2011 , by charley

Yes that's, put it in your diary, the 21st is a special date because Arizona State University is to host the 46th annual National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) All Star Classic. This incredible event will be held at the Wells Fargo Arena and presented by The Marines.

20 of the USA's top wrestlers will feature in the event and the whole show line up will be released at the end of October.

Head coach Shawn Charles said "The All Star Classic being held at ASU is a first and a great opportunity for ASU wrestling and the greater Arizona wrestling community, I would like to personally thank the NWCA for giving us the chance to host this prestigious event."

Coach Charles was one of only 12 wrestlers from ASU who competed in the All Star Classic and won over Nebraska's Tony Purler in 1993.

This event siginifies the end of the 2010-11 season and the start of teh 2011-12 season.

The NWCA All Star Classic is a historical event with traditional values and back in the day was known as the East-West Meet, until 1988, when it became the All Star Classic, as you'll agree this is a much more fitting and exciting name for the event. This is the 8th time in its 46th run that the event will be held in the West. Oregon has hosted four times previously (1977, 1979, 1990, 2007) California has hosted twice (2009 and 2010) and Utah has had the pleasure just once in 1985. The Marines have had a long standing relationship with this event and wrestling. They have sponsored the All Star Classic for the past 10 years, its a great family event, and celebrate a real American Sport.

Wrestling fans don't miss out, get your tickets and your hotels booked, find out your favourite wrestling t shirts and hats, and make your way to Arizona on the 21st of November.
