Happy New Year

Christmas Day has come and gone and now the other big event on the calendar (before you throw it the bin and replace it) is the New Year, a time when you can boot out the old and open a door to the new and hopefully a more promising year.  It’s a time when you try and forget about the bad moments that may have happened over the past year and focus on the positives and try and pass them over to the next year.  You may have a New Year’s resolution and set goals and aims for yourself to try and achieve.

2012 brings a lot of dates on the calendar to focus on, apart from our supposedly impending doom at the end of the year that the Mayans predicted, there’s also the most prestigious event on this earth.  An event dating back since ancient Greek times will be held in London next summer, the Olympic Games is the most watched sporting event worldwide, as people to try out beat their opponents at different sports and categories to win a gold medal.

For saying it is set in England and there are many sport clashes they have kept wrestling in the Olympics as an event, unfortunately baseball and softball and been removed and replaced by golf.  With the UK holding the summer games, they have opted for sports that they have more chance of winning a gold medal at, giving the English Olympic committee reason to discard such sports as baseball and softball, believing because there’s not much demand for it in their country, they will not have a chance to win a medal and it wouldn't attract any support or attention to the event. Thank goodness Wrestling is still in!
