				The 2008 Asics wrestling shoes lineup features dramatic changes with new models and additional colors!

Cael V3.0 - New Model!

Mat flex - New Model!

Dan Gable Ultimate - additional color options

Rulon - two new color options

Split Second VI - new color options

Most of the design modifications are represented by some striking new colors and some new construction elements. Asics continues to be extremely ?brand? oriented and has chosen to maintain its classic wrestling logo of double ?swish? stripes intersected with two parallel stripes.

The new Cael V3.O comes in 6 new colors and will compete head to head with the Adidas Response. The Matflex entry level shoe is available in 3 colors and features a cool ?low slung? style. The Dan Gable Ultimate now comes in an additional hot color Hawkeye yellow!

The Split Second VI will come in a variety of new colors including red/white which will do well since the Response shoe is no longer offered in red.

2008 Asics Wrestling Shoe Lineup Summary
Elite - $100 to $135

Dan Gable Ultimate

Rulon

Advanced - $50 to $100

Cael V2.0
Split Second VI

Competitive - Below $50

				This post will provide a broad review of the new adidas wrestling shoes. A more detailed product review for each wrestling shoe will be presented in additional blog posts below.

There are some new design and color options for adidas this year. They are the Response and Extero wrestling shoes with additional colors for the Adistrike John Smith. These are great new additions to the adidas lineup. The new wrestling shoe designs feature a futuristic look reminiscent of the more contemporary elements found in basketball sneakers.

For 2008, the top of the line wrestling shoe remains now the adiStike John Smith Signature. A new color has been added - red and white. The adiStrike will retail for $118, but can be found at www.mywrestlingroom.com for $104.95.

The Response will feature 3 colors for 2008 while the new Extero will be offered in black/silver and black/electricity.

2008 Adidas Wrestling Shoe Lineup Summary

Elite - $100 to $120

Adistrike John Smith

Advanced - $50 to $100

Response

Tyrint III

Competitive - Below $50

Extero

Extero Jr.

Unfortunately one new designs introduced last year, most notably the A?ttaak II did note fare well in the marketplace. The a?ttaak II was a dramatic departure from the past. Its design was too futuristic and its price point to high.

				<title>Twister Headgear - New from Cliff Keen!</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/30/Twister-Headgear--New-from-Cliff-Keen</link>
				<description>

				The twister is a great headgear and builds upon its sister product the tornado. There are two essential differences. First, the twister is a 2 strap configuration while the tornado has 4 straps. As a result, it feels lighter. Second, the ear cups are smaller. Some wrestler had complained that when they were headlocked in a cowboy throw the tornado gave the opponent a tighter hold. Cliff keen aims to improve on that with the new twister.

Like the Tornado the Twister comes in a range of color and options

				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/30/Matflex-Wrestling-Shoes-New-for-2008</link>
				<description>

				The Matflex is a very cool entry level shoe! Is has a low slung design that we think will be appealing not only to high school wrestlers but also to youth wrestlers.

The shoe comes in 3 color options

White/royal, White/red, Black/white

Interestingly for the first time ever the Asics entry level shoe will be priced BELOW that of the Adidas entry level shoe which is the Extero. The mat flex will retail for $42.95 vs. 44.95 for the Extero. The youth version or the GS will retail for $34.95.

Features:

Air Mesh - Quickly dissipates heat and moisture

Shine Up - Controls odor

Integrated Lace Cover - Complies with regulations

				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/30/Response-Wrestling-Shoes--New-for-2008</link>
				<description>

				The response is the go to shoe for Adidas and for 2008 the classic design is virtually unchanged and wrestlers will love the new color options!

This year the response will come in 3 colors combinations\

Black/black/gold, Hunter/white/gold, Navy/Silver/gold

Much to my surprise - gone are the Red/Black and Silver/black options. This was a big point of contention at the annual sales meeting as adidas/brute representative expressed concern that these color options are not offered. Based on our summer sales I can vouch that the response wont skip a beat!

The Response is also available in youth sizes starting as size 3. As youth wrestling continues to grow we see more and more young wrestlers who want a higher end shoe - sorry parents!

Features

Competitive athlete seeking a highly breathable, lightweight footwear

Engineered, asymmetrical mesh upper

Welded 3 Stripes midfoot support

Covered, integrated, asymmetrical lacing system with zipper construction &apos;QuickStrike&apos; flow-molded polymer outsoles

				<title>Extero Wrestling Shoes - New for 2008!</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/30/Extero-Wrestling-Shoes--New-for-2008</link>
				<description>

				The Extero is a great new wrestling shoe. The Extero replaces the lightweight mathog wrestling shoes which was a solid shoes - but the Extero is better built and will last longer. This will make the Extero a very good wrestling shoes for high school wrestlers that demand a tougher and long lasting shoes at a very affordable price.

The Extero Jr. will also be a great shoe for youth wrestlers for two reasons. First, the Extero features a 3 strap speed closure system which is very important for young wrestlers. Wrestling shoes are not easy to get on a kids foot. I remember always having to open up all the shoe laces all the way in order to put wrestling shoes on my son?s feet. The 3 strap system has no laces and feature velco ties - nothing could be easier.

The Extero comes in two color Black/Silver and Electricity/Black. Electricity is simply kiwi green! Both will be great sellers on the youth level since kids have been wanting cool color options on entry level shoes.

Features:

Three strap speed closure system for fast entry and easy exit

Ultra lightweight upper made of open breathable mesh and leather

European constructed outsole

Large medial drive zone area

				<title>Dan Gable Wrestling Shoes</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/23/Dan-Gable-Wrestling-Shoes</link>
				<description>

				The Dan Gable Ultimate wrestling shoe sold like hot cakes in its first year on the market! For 2008 Asics has expanded the line to include a Iowa hawkeye yellow color. With this move asics continues to offer a wide range of non-conventional colors after seeing the dramtic sales growth from Adidas who have been aggressively offering new colors and styles.

The hawkeye should do very well. Many wrestlers bought the yellow John Smith wrestling shoe last year even though I didn?t think it would do that well.

Features design and construction makes this one of the most flexible wrestling shoes ASICS&#xae; has ever made.

Injection molded PU provides structural support while maintaining a soft feel and light weight

Full Ecsaine upper for soft, lightweight and form-fitting shoe

Three-dimensional last for improved fit Integrated lace cover system complies with regulations

Weight: 8.9 oz.

				<title>Cael V3.0 Wrestling Shoes: New for 2008!</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/23/Cael-V30-Wrestling-Shoes-New-for-2008</link>
				<description>

				Finally! Asics has designed a shoe that matches its name. Asics has radically changed the design and color options for the 2008 Cael Sanderson Wrestling Shoe.

The reason for this change is that adidas has been kicking asics butt in the market with about a 70% market share. Its response shoe has been killing them. Asics has struck back big time with a shoe that we expect will sell like hot cakes.

The Cael V3.0 comes in six different colors
Silver/pearl/bronze, White/navy gold, Cyclone/gold/black, Royal/black/silver, Green/flame/black, Black/serpent/gold

In addition, the cael with now come in youth sizes with the Cael V3.0 GS or Junior. Sizes for the Cael Junior range from 1- 5 and is priced at $66.95. The junor however is available in just black and cylcone gold.

Features:

Escaine Upper - Soft, form fitting and lightweight

Air Mesh-Quickly dissipates heat and moisture

Shine Up-Controls odor

Integrated Lace Cover-Complies with regulations

				<title>Asics Split VI Wrestling Shoes</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/16/Asics-Split-VI-Wrestling-Shoes</link>
				<description>

				Asics continues to refine it product line with new color options in the popular split second line. The split second is for the wrestlers who like a split sole for more flexibility. Personally I keep going back and forth about this feature - it really is a personal preference rather than an advantage.

The red Split above will do well since Adidas has removed its very popular Response red and black shoe from the market. There really is no other ?All Red? shoe on the market for those wrestlers who want to match will their singlet.

Features:

For wrestlers of all levels that prefer a two-piece sole.

Split sole for increased midfoot flexibility.

Open mesh upper provides excellent comfort and breathability

Extended sole wrap provides traction higher up the sides Integrated lace cover complies
with regulations.

Weight: 9.2 oz.

				<title>Tyrint III Wrestling Shoes</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/9/14/Tyrint-III-Wrestling-Shoes</link>
				<description>

				The Tyrint III wrestling shoe was introduced by Adidas last year. Everything about the Tyrint III is ANGULAR. The wrestling shoe comes in 3 color options. black/white, cobalt/white and red/white. This shoe was designed by the Brute design team rather than Adidas. This is the first time that Brute has designed wrestling shoes.

The Tyrint is the bread and butter shoe for Adidas/Brute although I think that will change for 2008 as the Extero is making quite a splash in the market even though its an entry level shoe.

Features:
For athlete seeking a dependable product for training and competition!

Dynamic upper design

Contoured breathable mesh tongue

Mesh upper for durability and breathability

Aggressive outsole graphics

Elasticized lace cover system

Quick Strike flow-molded Polymer outsole inserts with multi-directional grip

The product sold very well in it first year and I expect that will continue in 2008.

				<title>Brute ZerO g6 Headgear Product Review</title>
				<link>http://www.mywrestlingroom.com/blog/index.cfm/2007/8/23/Brute-ZerO-g6-Headgear-Product-Review</link>
				<description>

				In the never ending battle between Brute and Cliff Keen over the top spot in wrestling head gear, Brute
has introduced the new and improved ZerO g6 to compete head on with the Cliff Keen Tornado headgear. I spoke with Brute
to get the skinny on the new design and features.

First, it?s important to note the differences with the Zero g model from last year. When evaluating a headgear the following
criteria are the most important. They are:

Important Consideration when selecting and ear guard
Protection
Weight - the lighter the better
Ease of use in adjusting straps - you don&apos;t want to issue and &quot;act of congress&quot; to fix your straps - especially during a
match
Ventilation - has to allow your ears and head to breath
Hearing - can you hear your coach?s instructions (maybe you don&apos;t want to?) or is everything muffled
Looks - can look like a knuckhead out on the mat
Reliability - has to last at least 2 seasons

Having worn the 2005 ZerO g model, I was always frustrated by its fit on my head - it never really matched the contour
and shape. I also noticed this among many wrestlers who used this headgear. The edges of the head gear were always kind of sticking out from the head
Comparatively the Tornado seemed to have a better contour and looked less bulky than the Zero G

However, Brute has breathed new life into the term &quot;Zero-Gravity&quot; with the new Ultra light ZerO-g6 ear guard and it has been
Redesigned primarily to provide a better form fit.

Features:
? Reduced weight,
? Unique Audio-Collection System? for expanded audible range.
? Quick-Ez? strap adjustment system for speed,ease, and fit.
? Slot-ventilation system? maximizes air flow for enhanced performance.
? Perfect combination of the latest in Polymer technology and durable coated Ensolite &#xae; foam pads for critical protection.
? The low 2 high? graduating profile form maximizes ear cup depth without making your head a target for the competition.

This product should do well in the market-place, it certainly is better looking than last year&apos;s model. Overall the ZerO g6 is a noticeable improvement over last year&apos;s model
 and it remains to be seen if it can unseat the cliff keen Tornado as the wrestling&apos;s top headgear.
